AS the Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association takes its first steps towards preparing for this year’s Coca-Cola Games, its efforts have been boosted with the handover of a new vehicle to assist them.
The vehicle was handed over by Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) Fiji’s representatives Elton Varomue and Lawrence Tikaram to the association’s secretary Biu Colati at CCEP Fiji’s head office in Laucala Beach Estate, Nasinu yesterday.
It will be used for official events by the Coca-Cola Games committee and the Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association.
Tikaram, who is the commercial manager-export markets for CCEP Fiji, said the handover was an incentive for FSSAA to continue carrying out their work.
“In renewal of our partnership with Fiji Secondary Schools (Athletics Association), one of the key arrangements was to provide an added vehicle to help provide the incentive for Fiji Secondary Schools (Athletics Association) to go out and continue the great work that they do in nurturing and providing coaching clinics, and most importantly, upskilling the coaches and managers who play an integral part of the success of the Coca-Cola Games,” Tikaram said.
“It will also help them in terms of the many events that clash together and provide them an opportunity to be available in presence at most of the outside events as well.”
FSSAA secretary Colati thanked CCEP Fiji for the handover and he affirmed their gesture as an indication of how they recognised the developments taking place in the sporting body.
“Our sponsor recognises the developments that we are in. Right now, as we speak, we have got an upskilling workshop happening for our coaches,” Colati highlighted.
“For all of these activities to happen, apart from other activities that FSSAA is undertaking, this vehicle that is going to come in will really help.”
Meanwhile, this year’s Coca-Cola Games will be held from April 30-May 1 at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
