Association promotes youth engagement

In an effort to nurture youth development and promote positive engagement, the Falsof Ba consistently organises volleyball tournaments, inspiring local youths to contribute positively to the community.

Recently, groups led by Fiji FA referee and K9E team leader Adriu Naisiroki successfully revived the competition, hosting a two-day Naidrodro Volleyball Revival event.

The competition attracted youth participants from as far as Rakiraki and Lautoka to compete competitively with their counterparts from Naidrodro.

“We want these youths to engage in some positive activity and to do something good in life,” Naisiroki said.

“We have good volleyball players in this community that needs to be exposed and one day don the white jumper, that’s our aim.”

In last week’s tournament, the Rakiraki-based team Vaileka Falcons secured victory over Young Blood in two straight sets.

Young Blood, comprising talented youth players from the FSC Compound area in Ba, aimed to showcase their volleyball skills.

With 11 participating teams, including Vaileka Falcons, Young Bloods, Pacifika Smart Business Koolsharks, Lowline Rebels, Gees, Stallions, Junction, Mafia, Brothers, China Town, and HN Crew, the two-day tournament featured highly competitive matches.

Additionally, four visiting teams, Vaileka (Rakiraki), Brothers (Drauniivi), HN Crew, and China Town from Lautoka, added to the spirited competition.

The second round, initially scheduled for this week, has been postponed to a later date due to weather conditions.

Naisiroki mentioned, “We are rescheduling the match to a later date.”

Naidrodro, located within the FSC Compound, has a rich history of producing national athletes in sports like hockey, volleyball, and rugby.

The settlement continues to exert a positive influence on the youth, evident in their active engagement in various sports, including rugby, football, hockey, volleyball, and golf.

The community has produced athlete such as the former ‘Pacific Sprint King’ Jone Delai.
