Assets worth $194,444 that included brand new laptop computers and desktop computers were not registered in the fixed asset register by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), the Auditor-General has stated this in his 2022 report of the General Administration Sector that was tabled in Parliament recently.
The audit noted that the force’s Fixed Asset Register (FAR) was not kept up to date and that the current register maintained does not have unique codes to distinguish each asset by type and class.
“Furthermore, audit noted from the review of selected sample that capital purchases made during the year were not recorded in the register,” states the report.
“Whilst, the invoices revealed the receiving of these procured items, audit could not trace these assets to the FAR.
“The force must ensure that fixed asset register is updated and assets with a value in excess of $2000 is recorded in the fixed asset register.”
The RFMF said it had a FAR in place, but it’s yet to be updated and that it’s in the process of completing a 100 per cent inventory and asset stock take on all its camps and facilities.
