THE Republic of Fiji Military Forces is now working on exhausting all its legal framework before deciding on actions that can be taken against the officers on board the MV Kiro that ran aground at Cakauyawa Reef near Makuluva Island, about 10 kilometres off Suva in July last year.
RFMF chief of staff Colonel Jone Kalouniwai said the MV Kiro case was part of some of the cases they were working on to bring to a closure.
“The issue about the boat that ran aground at the reef, we are beginning to bring to a close,” Col Kalouniwai said.
“What we are trying to do is to try and get rid of it and see who actually needs to be charged, surcharged if they need to be.”
The board of inquiry on the case has been completed with Col Kalouniwai confirming they were now focusing on the legal part of it.
