IT’S anybody’s game in the final round of the Melanesian Spearhead Group Prime Minister’s Cup today at the Solomon Islands.

Fiji, Papua New Guinea, host and defending champions Solomon Islands and Vanuatu all have a chance to take the title.

PNG is in pole position having seven points and on top of the table while the Solomon Islands trail closely in second place with six points.

The Digicel Fiji Bula Boys are in third with five points and Vanuatu fourth with four points.

Fiji needs to win against the Solomon Islands and hope that Vanuatu defeats PNG to go top of the standings and claim the title.

Head coach Marika Rodu admitted that it will be a hard task playing the Solomons in front of their home crowd but beating them is not impossible.

“We need to win the match in order to keep our chances of winning the cup alive. We know that Solomons will be an equally well-oiled team since they will have the home crowd advantage,” he said.

The national side drew 1-all with Vanuatu and PNG in its first two matches before securing a 3-0 win against the Solomon Islands Development team three days ago.

“It’s important to finish this long season on a high note,” Rodu added.

Their hopes of winning the title will also depend on the PNG vs Vanuatu game. If PNG wins, they take the cup home, if they lose or settle for a draw against Vanuatu, they give both Fiji and the Solomon Islands are clear passage to the top of the podium.

The team with the most points will win the competition.

The national side will face the Solomon Islands at 7pm today while Vanuatu meets PNG at 5pm.

Both matches will be played at the Solomon Islands National Stadium.
