THE Swire Shipping Fijian Drua will lose another key talent at the end of the Super Rugby Pacific season with winger Ponipate Loganimasi signing an overseas contract.
Sale Sharks have announced the agreed deal to sign the Flying Fijian from the start of the 2026/2027 season.
The Olympian is the second player confirmed to leave the Drua at the end of the season with Joji Nasova signing with English Premiership side Newcastle Red Bulls.
Loganimasi’s departure would mean that others in the squad will have to step up to fill the vacuum.
There is also the possibility of signing a Fijian player playing overseas.
“I’m so excited about coming to Sale. It’ll be my first time outside Fiji and I’m looking forward to playing in a new competition to learn and develop my game,” he said.
“I can’t wait to get to know the boys and become part of the team. I know some of the Sale players from the international games. I’ve watched guys like George Ford – as a winger it will be brilliant to play with him.
“I’m excited to make this move and I know my family is looking forward to a new experience too,” Loganimasi said in a release by Sale Sharks.
The former Fiji 7s player had signed a two-year contract with the Drua.
