Month-on-month inflation for February 2026, compared to February 2025, stands at -0.5 per cent.

However, on a monthly basis, the All Items CPI rose by 1.0 per cent, increasing from 110.9 in January 2026 to 112.0 in February.

The largest monthly increase was recorded in food and non-alcoholic beverages, which rose by 2.5 per cent.

Higher prices were noted for bread and cereals, meat, fish and seafood, vegetables, confectionery, coffee, tea, cocoa and soft drinks.

Miscellaneous goods and services increased by 2.2 per cent, driven by higher costs for hairdressing, personal care products, jewellery and other personal effects.

Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics rose by 1.5 per cent, with higher prices for spirits, wine, beer, tobacco and yaqona.

Price declines were recorded in several divisions, including transport (-1.5%), with lower prices for motor vehicles, fuel and sea transport, restaurants and hotels (-1.0%), mainly accommodation services, recreation and culture (-0.3%) and health (-0.1%).

The Bureau says the Consumer Price Index measures average price changes of goods and services purchased by households nationwide.

Monthly price collections are carried out in urban centres including Suva, Lami, Nasinu, Nausori, Lautoka, Nadi, Ba and Labasa, with the index also representing rural price movements.
