Angry scenes unfolded at Nadi International Airport around 1am this morning after passengers travelling to Auckland were informed their Fiji Airways flight had been cancelled following multiple delays.

Passengers said the flight was originally scheduled to depart yesterday at 11:10am but was first delayed to 6:55pm, then to 10:35pm. They were later advised the flight would depart at 1:45am on Sunday, before eventually being told it had been cancelled.

A video sent to this newsroom shows frustrated passengers voicing their anger inside the terminal, citing exhaustion, lack of clear communication and uncertainty over rebooking arrangements.

According to one affected passenger, Fiji Airways provided $30 meal vouchers to all impacted travellers while they waited overnight at the airport.

In a statement, Fiji Airways said the disruptions were due to operational issues.

The airline advised that flight FJ418 from Auckland to Nadi was delayed by approximately seven hours and was rescheduled to depart on 21 December at 12:00am local time.
