THE postponement of Extra Bula FC’s match against South Island United is a blessing in disguise for the young team.

This as it gives players an opportunity to properly recover before their next match.

The match was postponed due to adverse weather condition at North Harbour Stadium

Following an inspection by the match officials, the pitch was deemed unplayable. The match will be rescheduled to a later date in the competition.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, head coach Stephane Auvray acknowledged that recovery remains a challenge for many players but noted they are quickly adapting to the demands of the professional game.

“You only have two days to get back to the next game. So yesterday we were not on the field. We had a session at the pool for recovery. We had some massages,” he said.

“We have hydration, which is very important because I believe some of our players still did not have the habits of the professional player in terms of drinking a lot of water, electrolytes, etc. So, it’s a work in progress.”

Their next match is scheduled for Friday against Auckland FC.
