Julius Ah Sing of Alphonsus House claimed the blue-ribbon title at the Marist Brothers High School inter-house competition, edging out former MGM High School sprinter Penaia Ramasirai of Lambert House in a thrilling 100metres final.
Alphonsus House went on to be crowned overall champions, collecting 17 gold, 15 silver and 15 bronze medals, ending Claudius House’s three-year reign.
Claudius settled for second with 17 gold, 13 silver and 14 bronze, while Lambert finished third with 11 gold, 18 silver and 12 bronze.
Augustine came in fourth with 7 gold, 6 silver and 11 bronze.
Brooklyn Bennett of Lambert House, a former Hedland Senior High School student, dominated the 200m and 400m events.
Alphonsus was also awarded the most disciplined house of the two-day competition, which saw over 400 students compete.
