Alleged Navua murder investigation underway

Police are investigating the alleged murder of a 59-year-old woman in Naitata, Navua yesterday.

According to Police, the victim was found lying motionless with multiple wounds in an area used for farming by her husband.

“The matter was reported to Crime Stoppers and a team from the Navua Police Station and Crime Scene Investigations (CSI) were deployed to the scene of crime,” Assistant Commissioner of Police – Crime (ACP) Mesake Waqa said.

“The matter was reported by the victim’s husband, who, upon his return from Suva yesterday afternoon, found her lying motionless with multiple wounds in an area they used for farming,” he said.

ACP Waqa said based on initial findings, the case is being treated as a suspected murder.

He has directed an extensive investigation be conducted to establish the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death.
