The pre-trial conference for 24 year old Ilaisa Tanoa Degei, who’s accused of rape and sexual assault, has been deferred
The case, heard in the High Court in Lautoka, was deferred to allow his newly appointed defence counsel to seek further instructions.
Mr Degei is charged with the rape and sexual assault of a Virgin Australia Airline cabin crew member in Nadi late last year.
His new counsel, Keli Vulimainadave, requested at least 21 days to address pending issues. The request was granted by Justice Sunil Sharma.
The state, represented by Joeli Nasa, did not object to the request.
The case has been adjourned until October 7, and Mr Degei’s bail has been extended.
