Mohammed Ali, nicknamed “The Temptation”, is ready to seize his chance in the ring for the lightweight title against Mikaele Ravalaca this Saturday at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.
Ravalaca was Initially scheduled to face Ronald Naidu but Ali stepped in after Naidu failed a medical test.
24-year-old Ali is determined to make a statement in one of the biggest fights of his professional career.
Despite the short notice, the Suva-born, now Nadi-based boxer is confident in his preparation and respects Ravalaca’s experience.
Ali, who left school at Year 8, credits his faith, family, and fans for his motivation.
Blue Water Boxing promoter Samir Khan confirmed the event is building up well, with tickets selling fast, promising an action-packed night featuring main bout in the cruiserweight division between Joseph Kwadjo and Robin Hazelman.
He acknowledges that his journey in boxing has been tough, but he is determined to make his mark.
“I’m grateful to have another chance to fight for this title. My first fight was against Ronald Naidu, and I thank the promoter for giving me this opportunity to face Mikaele,” Ali said.
Despite stepping in on short notice, Ali is confident in his preparation.
“I have been training hard. I know Mikaele has been training hard too. He is a good fighter, and he has fought overseas, but he should know that I will also be tough. It will be hard for him,” he added.
“I will talk in the ring for the viewers.”
Ali, who only completed his education up to Year 8, has dedicated himself fully to boxing, using the sport as a platform to change his life. He credits his faith, family, and fans for keeping him motivated.
Meanwhile, Blue Water Boxing promoter Samir Khan has assured that everything is set for Saturday’s showdown, with ticket sales booming.
“The boxers are ready for the fight. Almost all VIP tables and corporate seats have been sold,” Khan said.
“The weigh-in will be at Terry Walk tomorrow, and fans can also purchase tickets there. We will also be selling tickets from the Vodafone Arena booth from 12pm on fight day.”
Adding to the excitement, fans can also look forward to a thrilling main supporting bout in the Cruiserweight contest (10×3), where Joseph Kwadjo will take on Robin Hazelman in what promises to be another intense battle.
With medical and drug tests completed, all eyes are now on Saturday night as Ali and Ravalaca clash for the Lightweight Title, while Kwadjo and Hazelman bring the heat in the Cruiserweight division.
