FIJI Airways Ltd managing director and chief executive officer Paul Scurrah is among 160 Australians appointed Member of the Order (AM) in the 2026 Australia Day Honours, in recognition of his significant service to the transport, logistics and freight sectors in Australia.

In a statement congratulating its executive head, Fiji Airways Mr Scurrah’s appointment as AM recognised more than two decades of his leadership across Australia’s transport and logistics industries and national freight services.

“Throughout his career, he has led complex, large-scale organisations through periods of transformation, with a strong focus on safety, operational resilience, workforce engagement, customer service and national connectivity,” Fiji Airways stated.

“In Australia, Paul is widely recognised for his leadership in strengthening supply chain capability, modernising logistics operations, improving safety performance, and supporting essential services that underpin economic activity and community wellbeing.

“His work has contributed to improved industry standards and helped ensure critical freight and logistics networks continued to operate reliably during times of disruption and change.”

The Order of Australia is the nation’s principal honours system, recognising Australians who have demonstrated outstanding achievement, leadership and service.

Appointment as a Member of the Order of Australia acknowledges individuals whose work has delivered sustained impact within their profession and the broader community.

Fiji Airways chairman Nalin Patel said the honour reflected both Mr Scurrah’s professional legacy in Australia and the leadership he now brings to Fiji’s national airline.

“Paul’s appointment as a Member of the Order of Australia is a significant and well-deserved recognition of his contribution to industries that are fundamental to national and regional connectivity,” Mr Patel said.

“The Board is proud to have a leader of Paul’s calibre guiding Fiji Airways. His international experience, values-based leadership and commitment to people, safety and excellence continue to strengthen the airline and position it well for sustainable long-term growth.”

Since joining Fiji Airways, Mr Scurrah has provided strategic direction, reinforced a strong safety culture, and placed people and service excellence at the heart of the airline’s operations.

Under his leadership, Fiji Airways continues its journey to become the World’s Happiest Airline, while delivering reliable connectivity for Fiji and its global network.

Mr Scurrah said he was deeply honoured to receive the recognition.

“I am humbled by this award and grateful to have worked alongside so many dedicated people across Australia’s transport and logistics sectors over many years.

“These industries are about connecting people, businesses and communities and any contribution I’ve made has been the result of strong teams working with a shared sense of purpose.

“I am equally proud of the work we are doing at Fiji Airways, serving Fiji and connecting our islands to the world.”

Of the 680 people honoured for their service to their communities in the general division of the 2026 Australia Day honours list, 10 were made a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC), 38 were appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO), 160 were appointed Member of the Order (AM) while 472 received a Medal of the Order (OAM).
