A total of $1.9billion worth of yaqona was planted in Fiji between February 10, 2019 and February 10, 2020, states the Fiji Census report released by the Ministry of Agriculture.
The report stated 18,478 households in Fiji were yaqona farmers who had approximately 16 million plants.
There were 8705 yaqona farmers in the Northern Division whose total crop value was $1.5 billion.
The Western Division had 2337 farmers with $115 million total crop value, stated the census report.
The Central Division had 3826 farmers whose total crop value was $277 million while the Eastern Division had 3610 yaqona farmers with a total crop value of $84 million.
The Cakaudrove province had six million yaqona plants valued at $1.3 billion.
In the Bua province, 1.7 million plants were counted and valued at $75 million.
A total of 1.2 million yaqona plants in Macuata were valued to be $4million.
The census counted 1.2 million plants in the Naitasiri province valued at $207 million.
Six hundred and eighty four thousand, one hundred and twenty four yaqona plants were counted in the Nadroga/Navosa province with a value of $61 million.
The census report stated Kadavu had 1.1 million yaqona plants with a value of $43 million.
The Rewa Province had 239,908 plants with a value of $34 million, stated the census report.
The Ba Province had 444,766 plants that were valued to be $29 million.
The Ra Province had 470,707 plants with a value of $26 million, stated the census report.
The Lomaiviti Group had 989,335 plants valued at $22 million.
Two hundred and two thousand, two hundred and seventy four plants were counted in the Lau Group with a value of $16 million.
The Tailevu Province had 466,978 yaqona plants with a value of $14 million.
Two hundred and twenty three thousand, four hundred and twenty seven plants in the Serua Province were valued to be $11 million.
Six hundred and eighty five thousand, one hundred and five yaqona plants were counted in the Namosi Province with a value of $10 million.
Fifty eight thousand, six hundred and eight yaqona plants on Rotuma were valued to be $2.4 million.
