PREPARATIONS for the Municipal Council elections are almost complete.

Minister for Local Government Maciu Nalumisa confirmed they are yet to receive confirmation from the Attorney General’s office for a few things.

“We are at the end of our preparation,” Mr Nalumisa said.

“We are just awaiting confirmation from the AG’s office on a few things before we can get a confirmation from Cabinet on our next line of action.”

He said holding municipal council elections is part of the Coalition Government’s plan.

“We are positive. It’s part of our plan.

“But as I just said, we need to get these things right because after a long time, we will be having the local government elections again, since 2005.

“We are just finalising a few things from the AG’s office before we get confirmation from Cabinet on the dates and all these things.”
