Opposition MP Adi Litia Qionibaravi says most of the 120 submissions to the Fiji Electoral Commission made by opposing parties on the electoral process were not taken into consideration.

While speaking on the 2014 Electoral Commission Annual Report, she said these were concerns of the opposing parties that needed to be addressed.

“The political parties that made various submissions to the Electoral Commission, over 120 recommendations from 2017 to 2018,” she said.

“Out of the 120 recommendations, less than 10 recommendations have been approved.

“We speak on behalf of thousands of voters who voted us into Parliament, that there need to be changes to the electoral laws in this country, as well as the 2013 Constitution of the Republic of Fiji.

“We wholeheartedly share the intent of the two reports and anticipate serious and sincere dialogue and active co-operation with the FijiFirst Government, the Fiji Electoral Commission and the Elections Office in the implementation of these recommendations.”
