Actress’ dress of pearls stolen

LOS ANGELES – A $US150,000 ($$F306,000) pearl-adorned dress worn by Lupita Nyong’o to this year’s Academy Awards has been reported stolen.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a West Hollywood hotel on Wednesday after the custom Calvin Klein Collection by Francisco Costa dress was reported missing from the actress’s hotel room, officials say.

Nyong’o was present when they took the report but wasn’t in her room when the elaborate gown was taken.

The custom ivory dress designed by Costa included 6000 pearls of various sizes.

Representatives for the actress reported the theft.

Detectives suspect the garment was stolen sometime between 8 and 9 pm on Wednesday, Lieutenant William Nash said.

Detectives were at the hotel on Thursday looking for clues, including whether surveillance footage would reveal what happened to the gown.
