A MAN charged with the importation and possession of 2.3 kilograms of methamphetamine denied the charges in the High Court in Lautoka yesterday.

Lambert Kuruvoli allegedly imported the drug in January. He was found in possession of it after arriving on an international flight.

Mr Kuruvoli denied a count of unlawful importation of an illicit drug and one of unlawful possession.

Inoke Tamanikasaqa appeared on the instructions of defence lawyer Litia Vateitei before Justice Aruna Aluthge who said he wanted Ms Vateitei present in court when the matter is called for a pretrial conference.

Mr Tamanikasaqa said there were no admissions in Mr Kuruvoli’s caution interview.

Justice Aluthge adjourned the matter to August 19 for the pretrial conference and extended bail for Mr Kuruvoli.
