The Fiji Times has confirmed the baby boy found abandoned alive was at the Fiji National University Natabua campus.
A video obtained shows the moment the crying baby was pulled out from a sanitary bin inside the female toilet.
Fiji Police said the baby was discovered after a student heard him crying.
Hostel staff found the baby inside the bin and took him to the Lautoka Aspen hospital.
