The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things, but the one who gets others to do them.”
This was stated by the Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Minister, Lynda Tabuya in March during her visit to Nailagotabua Primary School in Naloto, Verata.
Ms Tabuya was the first government official from the Coalition Government to visit the school and the vanua for the school’s prefect induction and re-opening of the school’s kitchen.
According to a Ministry statement, Ms Tabuya thanked the teachers and parents for their hardwork in making education a priority for children.
“As an iTaukei community, no one should be living in poverty,” she said. “We should invest in our children and use education as their way out of poverty”.
While speaking to the students, Ms Tabuya urged them to always listen attentively to their teachers and to abide by the school rules and regulations.
She also encouraged other students to continue to support the school prefects in carrying out their duties – as their support was vital.
The school’s head boy, Apisai Dredreyaca in the statement thanked the school management for trusting him and bestowing him with the honour to be the school’s head boy for the year 2023.
He looks forward to carrying his duties to the best of his abilities during this academic year.
Ms Tabuya wished all the newly inducted prefects and students all the best for the new school year.
She also handed over kitchen items, exercise books and hygiene kits to the school management during their visit.
