A LEADING car rental company is planning to expand its presence in the Western Division.
Avis Rent A Car made this known when it opened a branch at the newly established Shalini Garden Hotel and Apartments in Olosara, Sigatoka.
In its 40-year operation in Fiji, Avis Fiji car rentals has established itself as one of the country’s most trusted car rental companies.
Manager Evelyn Farouk said they were delighted to bring their rental car business closer to the people of Sigatoka.
“Previously, it was very inefficient and costly to deliver the vehicles all the way from Nadi,” she said.
“Avis has a strong customer base in Fiji from corporate, retail and public sector.”
She said the new developments along the Coral Coast provided a boost for the transport sector. “The place provides a peaceful, natural and relaxing environment for holiday makers from both here and abroad. There are so many resorts and hotels along the way for relaxation and business events.”
Outlining a brief history of Avis, Ms Farouk said the first airport car rental location was opened by Warren Avis in 1946. This was at Willow Run Airport, Detroit and three cars were in operation.
“Today, Avis operates from over 5000 locations in 165 countries worldwide and we at Avis Fiji are one of them.
“Avis commenced operations in Fiji over 40 years ago and has built a strong reputation of quality service and exceptional vehicles over this time.
“We currently have five locations from where we operate from- Nadi International Airport, Port Denarau, Ratu Mara Rd, Nabua, Suva, Nausori Airport Terminal and Asco Motors, Labasa.”
With the current fleet of vehicles being maintained to the highest standards, Avis is now hopeful that additions to the current fleet will be as equally appealing to members of the public.
Avis’ current fleet of vehicles consist of small passenger cars, SUVs, light commercial vehicles and high end luxury vehicles such as Prado and Fortuner. “Avis is also the first car rental company in Fiji to introduce hybrid vehicles- the Toyota Prius Hybrid. Apart from providing fuel efficiency, the Toyota Prius is the ultimate eco-friendly car with low fuel consumption and carbon emissions,” Ms Farouk said.
“These vehicles are user-friendly, quiet and with low carbon emissions, provide 50 per cent fuel savings.”
She said Avis was committed to ensuring a stress-free car rental experience by providing superior services that would cater to their customers’ individual needs.
