CHOOSING quality food is one of the main priorities to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, says shopper for the week Ilisavani Jegesa Waqanivavalagi.
Waqanivavalagi is a rugby league player who has represented Fiji in the 2013 Rugby League World Cup and who played for the Fiji Residents Bati side in the Battle of the Bati match last year before the 2017 Rugby League World Cup.
He plays for the Nabua Broncos in the Fiji National Rugby League (FNRL) competition and for the Suva Eagles in the Vodafone Inter-Zone competition.
Now a devoted father to his son Steve and daughter Abigail, Waqanivavalagi maintains a good balance of his rugby career and his time with his young family.
He says it’s important for people to eat what they love rather than eating the things they don’t like.
“If you’re thinking of eating the things you love just make sure you eat it in moderation and teach your children to eat a balanced meal,” he said.
“I choose quality over quantity all the time and it’s important to select the right type of food when going out grocery shopping, so that your family has a good balanced meal every week.”
He says selecting the right type of food contributes a lot to sportspeople’s ability to perform well on the field, especially those playing physical sports.
“It’s important to maintain a healthy lifestyle when you’re on and off the field because at the end of the day you know you’re living a healthy life for your family and you’re being a good role model to your children,” he said.
