Brothers, Sebastian Singh and Ubayd Haider are united on a heartfelt mission to secure not one, but two international title belts for their father Gyan Singh, who is currently battling health issues.
Their upcoming challenge in the South Pacific Boxing Promotion on October 26, holds immense significance for the brothers, as they prepare to face formidable opponents in the ring.
Sebastian, also known as “The Sniper,” expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to share this milestone with his brother, Ubayd Haider (formerly known as Nathan Singh).
The brothers are set to make history by competing for two prestigious titles on the same day, with Sebastian fighting Tonga’s Tonga Tongotongo for the IBO Asia Pacific Cruiserweight title, and Haider taking on China’s Runqi Zhou for the IBO Asia Pacific Featherweight title.
The focus of the brothers lie beyond personal glory. Their mission is dedicated to their father, the cornerstone of their boxing journey.
Sebastian emphasised the significance of competing for the renowned IBO title, highlighting the immense pride that comes with such an achievement.
“That’s the mission, that’s the plan. For my brother and I, we’ve already created history by having two siblings from the same house fighting for two international titles on the same day,” said Singh.
“For us, that’s an achievement but the bigger thing is going to be, besides everything, will be taking both belts back to my father, where it all started.”
The inspiration and motivation driving the brothers are deeply rooted in their love and appreciation for their father.
“He has been going through some health issues lately, and I know this will put a smile in his heart and on his face if he sees both his boys, his prodigies, bring back something of this magnitude back home,” he adds.
“So, besides everything, this is all just for him, everything I am doing is just for him. I look back on my career and I can say that I made my father proud, and he has dedicated more than 40 years into the sport.
“He has trained multiple champions and people have come and gone and for me, it will be a big blessing for my brother and I to take such big titles back home and present it, like a sevusevu.”
The event will be held at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.
