FROM the month of March to April many schools around the country celebrate Ram Naumi.

The festival in the Hindu calendar marks the birth of Rama who is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

Students and teachers of Jagindra Singh Primary School organised an event to celebrate the special event.

There was a character parade, singing, poetry recital, speech, religious dance items, role plays, sweet distribution and kirtan.

The head of school, Kamal Lal said the students dressed up as characters from the Ramayana –

Mr Lal said the parade included characters like Rama, Sita, Hanuman and many more.

“The event represents the incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who came into this world in the form of a human being,” he said.

“He (Lord Rama) teaches us that we must be calm, uphold moral values through adversities.

“There will be difficulties in following or leading a path of righteousness but by remaining calm we all can easily lead a good and virtuous life and be better human beings.”

He said Ram Naumi is an annual event for the school and the students and teachers celebrate it with great enthusiasm.
