Naitasiri rugby was able to assemble 60 players from all over their province to make up their squad for the 2025 Skipper Cup season.
These players were scouted from their weekly club games, joining some of the senior figures that the union was able to retain from last year.
Some big names from their Farebrother winning team who are still in the squad this year includes, skipper Asiveli Rokoua, Maciu Vakacabeqoli, Kaminieli Lutumailagi and Sakaraia Soqonakalou.
Without naming names, Naitasiri Rugby Union treasurer Meli Rokobici said they have also lost some of their players to other major unions.
“We have lost some players to other provincial teams due to work commitments and since our club games started later compared to our neighbouring unions, so some moved to them to have some good time,” he said.
However, Rokobici said the current group has been putting in the work since off-season and preparation is on the right course with only a week left until round one kicks-off.
“We are the holders of the Farebrother Trophy; we will treat every team and every game as a final. Preparation for Malolo has been going well and I believe come August 2, the boys will do their talking on the field.”
Naitasiri will host Malolo rugby in round one of the Skipper Cup on August 2 at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.
The match is also a Farebrother challenge.
