THE developers of Australian fine wine brand Penfolds Grange has become the official wine partner for the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards season.

The renowned brand, which was exclusively distributed in Fiji by the Motibhai Group of Companies, had partnered with the Television Academy for the first time to provide their prized wines to Emmy nominees, presenters and members of the academy.

“To celebrate, each Primetime Emmy winner will receive a bottle of Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz in a commemorative wooden box, specially engraved with his or her name,” Penfolds said in a statement this week.

“Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz is often referred to as ‘Baby Grange’, as components of the wine are matured in the same barrels that held the previous vintage of Penfolds flagship wine, Grange. Penfolds Grange is one of the most collected wines of the world today, and one signed bottle of the 1951 (first vintage) was recently purchased for $A65,000 ($F102,158).”

Penfolds marketing vice-president Barry Sheridon said the brand was synonymous with luxury and quality.

Penfolds has been producing an impressive array of wines since 1844. According to the wine developers, the introduction of Penfolds Grange in 1951 changed the landscape of Australian fine wine.

The 67th Emmy Awards will be held on September 20 at the Microsoft Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.
