Three months after his daughter’s body was found motionless at a children’s park in Lautoka last year, Patemosi Cava is demanding answers from authorities on how a night out with friends turned into a living nightmare for their family.

Mr Cava who resides in Naila Village in Tailevu has been in Lautoka since December last year searching for clues to how his child Venina Cirikeba Cava died and why her body was dumped at the Lautoka Children’s Park.

Speaking to this newspaper yesterday, Mr Cava said after Venina’s burial, he has been pleading with police for answers surrounding the circumstances that led to her death.

The father of nine said his daughter went out with a group of people to a Lautoka night club.

“Because she is new to this area, she left the club alone and did not know who might have been following her,” he said.

He claimed that a CCTV footage relayed to him by police, showed that his daughter was walking along the tramline near Vitogo Parade.

“She was seen walking right to the red bus stop, near the Lautoka Muslim School and the only information I gathered from an investigating officer was the last place they saw my daughter was near the Tappoo City Lautoka Mall.

“I am suspecting that my daughter was taken in a vehicle and murdered at the park.”

He said with the amount of time that has passed, a person of interest should have been questioned or captured by now.

“We still do not know when they will arrest the suspect who is responsible for the death of my daughter. By now we should be in court dealing with this case.”

Meanwhile, police spokesperson Wame Boutolu confirmed to this newspaper yesterday that investigation into this case was still continuing.

“The officer in charge of the case has been informed to update the victim’s dad,” he said.

When asked if the victim was murdered, Mr Boutolu said investigation was still ongoing.
