FORMER Flying Fijians winger Filipo Nakosi, the elder brother of Flying Fijians centre Josua Tuisova, has firmly declared that his rugby career is far from over despite recently stepping away from professional play.
In January, the 33-year-old ended his contract with French Pro D2 club Vannes — a decision driven by his desire to spend more time with his young family.
“First of all, rugby is still not over for me. I just came back because of my family, because of my kids; they’ve been growing fast. And for me, living alone in France for a year now, it’s hard for me, and it’s a decision that we made as a family,” he said.
As a father to a six-year-old daughter and twin boys who turn three this June, Nakosi believes that being present in his children’s lives is essential to shaping their upbringing.
“Once they grow up, they’ll forget about us. They’ll live their own life, and that’s my responsibility as a father, to come and be a good influence in their lives. Because most of the time, I always spend my time on rugby, especially when I’m overseas.”
Since parting ways with his former club, the Votua, Ba native confirms several clubs have approached him for his services.
“Yes, there are a number of clubs that are offering me a contract to go back, but I don’t want to name them,” he said.
“At the moment, I’m just focusing on family.”
Last month, Nakosi was seen playing for his village team (Ba River) at the 50th Fiji Bitter Marist Sevens.
