A flash flood alert is now in force for the whole of Fiji.

According tto Fiji Met, a trough of low pressure currently lies over the country, bringing with it cloud cover, showers, and periods of rain expected to affect the group over the next few days.

Authorities warn that the primary hazard is flash flooding, likely to be triggered by isolated heavy rainfall.

Forecast models, weather radar, and the Fiji Flash Flood Guidance System indicate an increased risk of flooding in drainage systems, small streams, Irish crossings, low-water bridges, roads, and properties located in low-lying areas.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions, particularly those living in flood-prone areas, as conditions may deteriorate rapidly with little warning.
