Muslim IDC momentum builds with strong performances

THE 66th Dayals Sawmillers Fiji Muslim Sports Association Inter-District Championship (IDC) continued to gather momentum in Ba yesterday, with teams stepping up their performance in a series of competitive matches at the Xavier College grounds.

Lautoka delivered one of the standout performances of the day, securing a convincing 2-0 victory over Sigatoka at full time.

The side showed composure in attack and discipline at the back to walk away with maximum points.

In other matches, Nasinu proved too strong for Valelevu, claiming a solid 3-1 win to stay in contention.

Off the field, the Fiji Muslim Sports Association also held its Annual General Meeting and Council Meeting, bringing together branch delegates, executives and officials from the Fiji Muslim League.

Key items on the agenda included the presentation of the annual report, financial updates and discussions on plans for upcoming tournaments. The meeting reflected strong unity among leaders as they aligned strategies for the future of the competition.

FMSA General Secretary Mohammed Zeyaad Hussain acknowledged the strong support from fans during the opening day on Thursday.

“We had a good number of crowd and I want to thank the people of Ba. As people understand ‘Ba Toh Ba Hai’, talking about the soccer capital of the country, they have shown their support,” Hussain said.

Earlier on Thursday, Ba Muslim stamped their dominance with a 4-1 victory over Rarawai, delivering a clinical attacking display backed by solid control throughout the match.

Drasa also impressed, cruising to a one-sided win after putting four goals past Varavu in a dominant performance.

With momentum building and crowds turning up in numbers, the IDC competition is shaping up for more thrilling encounters in the days ahead.
