Accounting firm names new partners

ACCOUNTING firm KPMG Fiji has appointed two new partners in Mehul Tailor and Nalin Kumar.

Mr Tailor and Mr Kumar bring expertise in audit and assurance, business and tax advisory services.

“With the promotion of Mehul and Nalin to the KPMG Fiji partnership, we are building a strong and diverse leadership team, one well-positioned to drive innovation and support sustainable growth throughout the South Pacific,” KPMG Fiji managing partner Sharvek Naidu said.

“I am proud to see the partnership growing from six to eight, as we continue to meet the increasing demand for high-quality professional services in Fiji and the region.”

He said appointing the two new partners to the leadership group would also help strengthen the firm’s offer to both clients and the community.

Mehul Tailor

Mr Tailor began his career with KPMG Fiji 18 years ago in in the firm’s Vocational Employment (VE) program before joining the Suva office in 2011 as a graduate accountant.

“Mehul is KPMG Fiji’s financial services sector lead and has experience reporting under US auditing standards. He has outstanding skills having worked with clients across the region, covering financial services, including central banks, energy and utilities, media and telecommunications, retail and leisure, and manufacturing industries.”

Mr Naidu said Mr Tailor had played a key role in developing the firm’s capacity as a KPMG Clara Champion and Accredited Sampling professional, and conducted audit training programs for Fiji Audit and IFRS technical training to clients and professionals in Fiji and across the Pacific.

Mr Tailor is a graduate of the University of the South Pacific, a member of the Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants (FICA), and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.

Nalin Kumar

Mr Kumar is a seasoned accounting and assurance professional with more than two decades of experience in public practice; and has worked with a diverse client base ranging from small and medium enterprises to major national organisations, multinational corporations, listed entities, financial institutions, and statutory bodies across Fiji and the Pacific.

He was seconded to KPMG’s Darwin office for three years, further broadening his perspective, combining strong local and regional insight with international audit practices. He also spent close to three years in business and tax advisory, providing technical accounting and tax advice and delivering end–to–end compliance services, including financial statement preparation, bookkeeping, executive payroll, and statutory reporting. Mr Kumar is a graduate of the University of the South Pacific and is a member of FICA and CPA Australia.

“Nalin brings valuable and extensive practical experience across audit and business and tax advisory, giving him a well–rounded and practical perspective when dealing with clients,” Mr Naidu said.

“He provides sound, balanced advice that considers both risk and commercial outcomes and is strongly committed to mentoring teams and driving operational improvements across a wide range of entities.”

Mr Tailor and Mr Kumar are, at present, based in KPMG’s Suva office and will relocate to Nadi from early next year.
