SWIRE Shipping Fijian Drua centre Iosefo Namoce was the focus of fans and rugby pundits recently following his performance in the match against the Blues at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand on Saturday.

Namoce’s dynamic approach to line breaks helped the Drua get closer to the Blues try-line on several occasions, however, the Blues kept the competition off and won 40-15.

Head coach Glen Jackson commended the Taveuni centre for his work and for the energy he added into the squad.

“He was great on debut. I think he created a lot of line breaks and a lot of energy for such a young man coming into the squad,” Jackson told the media on Tuesday.

“As I talked about after the game, I thought the balance was important, that we don’t just rush everyone in.

“It was the right time to give him a go and I think he really showed the quality that he’s got and I look forward to seeing him doing it again this weekend.”

Namoce’s rugby journey began at a young age when he featured in the primary schools Kaji rugby competitions, which evolved in secondary school when he featured for Queen Victoria School in the Deans competition.

Following that, he played club rugby in the Suva Rugby Union’s competitions, named in the Suva rugby senior team for the Skipper Cup and then ventured abroad to play rugby in Australia before returning home last year.

He was also part of the Fiji Airways Fiji men’s 7s extended squad for a brief stint.
