FASANOC recently participated in the Glasgow 2026 Chefs de Mission Seminar, held from March 23–27, 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland. FASANOC’s Chef de Mission Ajay and senior team administrator Jane Wong-Niubalavu represented Fiji at this important pre-Games gathering, which brought together Commonwealth Games Associations (CGAs) from across the Commonwealth to prepare for the upcoming Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
The seminar provided a comprehensive platform for Chefs de Mission to receive updates on all key operational components of the Games. Over four days, Ajay and Jane worked through each Functional Area relevant to Team Fiji’s preparation, covering Sports, Medical, Transportation, Catering, Para-athlete accessibility, Accreditation, Arrivals and Departures, and Pre-Games training camp arrangements.
A highlight of the visit was venue tours across multiple competition sites, with the delegation personally inspecting facilities for Athletics, Swimming, Bowls, Judo, Weightlifting, Boxing, and 3×3 basketball, giving Team Fiji a first-hand look at the environments their athletes will compete in come July 2026.
Key areas of focus for Fiji included medical supply approvals and equipment logistics, visa and travel planning, Games Village confirmation pending the upcoming Delegation Registration Meeting (DRM) and coordination around government delegation and guest accreditation.
FASANOC is encouraged by the organisation and detail of the Glasgow 2026 preparations and looks forward to building on the connections and information gathered as Team Fiji counts down to what promises to be a brilliant summer of sport.
