The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) has raised serious concerns over a disturbing rise in cases of animal abuse involving hot water and chemicals.
In a statement, the organisation said that in the past three months alone, its clinic had treated up to four animals suffering severe burns, often with no information about who caused the injuries.
“It is deeply disturbing that someone would intentionally boil water and throw it on a defenceless animal,” the SPCA said.
“This is both cruelty and a crime.”
The organisation urged the public to report such acts immediately to police or local shelters and reminded the nation that compassion and respect for animals were core values that must be upheld.
“Let’s work together to protect our animals and ensure their safety.”
