A minor earthquake was felt along the Suva–Nausori corridor yesterday afternoon, according to the Fiji Seismology Unit.
The earthquake occurred at 5:06pm with a magnitude of 3.8 and a depth of 25 kilometres.
The epicentre was located about 40 kilometres southeast of Makuluva Island.
The quake was described as a “felt event”, with tremors experienced in parts of the Suva–Nausori corridor.
However, authorities confirmed that no damage has been reported so far.
The Fiji Seismology Unit is encouraging members of the public who experienced the tremor to report their observations to assist with monitoring and assessment.
Fiji lies within a seismically active region and experiences minor earthquakes from time to time, most of which are not strong enough to cause damage.
