BA Methodist High School Saints U17 proved too strong after defeating Ba Provincial School Dragons 22-12 in the feature semi-final match of the Vodafone West Secondary School Rugby League at Churchill Park yesterday.
The Ba-based side, boasting a line-up of talented, physical and fit players, dominated the first half and controlled possession to take a 12-0 lead into the break. They maintained their momentum in the second spell, continuing their attacking surge to seal the win.
Seruvi Vakalolo led the charge with two tries, while Peniasi Balabala and Isoa Nukunidreke added a try each. Aporosa Ragata kicked two successful conversions and Taniela Kunarara added one.
Ba Provincial responded with two tries through Jolami Nakaloulevu and Kaminieli Ratumaiyale, with Jayden Tupou converting both.
Ba Methodist manager Isikeli Navuni praised his players for their performance.
“We want to give praise and glory to God Almighty. It was a tough game and hats off to the Ba Pro boys for a good match. We did a lot of work coming into this and improved on our past mistakes.
“Thanks to the boys for a brilliant and outstanding game,” Navuni said.
In other results, Sigatoka Mission Knights defeated Sigatoka Valley 16-10 in the first U17 semi-final.
In the U15 grade, Sigatoka Mission beat Xavier 10-0, while Central Storms edged Ba Provincial Dragons 8-4 to secure a place in the final.
