The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption told the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday that it has been unable to serve extradition papers on Director of Public Prosecutions Christopher Pryde to return him from New Zealand to Fiji to face corruption-related charges.

FICAC’s case against Mr Pryde, who has been absent from office since his reinstatement in January 2025, was called before Magistrate Yogesh Prasad yesterday. He faces two counts of abuse of office, two counts of causing a loss, and one count of obtaining a financial advantage.

FICAC prosecutor Arieta Vaganalau told the court of the difficulties in effecting service and sought additional time to do so. Magistrate Prasad granted an adjournment for two months to allow service of the documents.

The matter will be recalled on June 15.
