THE sureties of five murder accused who were released on bail yesterday were reminded of their obligations to the court.
The first matter involved three tertiary students — Alexander Vatia Leweniqila, 19, Manoa Vakavunivalu, 19, and Aisake Lovobalavu, 20 – who are charged with the murder of Jone Vuinakelo, whose body was allegedly found at Nauluvatu Settlement on Sunday, March 15, with severe facial injuries.
The case will be called in the High Court on April 10 for first call.
The second case involved Qauia residents – Keni Salawai, 42, and Jope Seniloli, 20 – who are charged over the murder of Police Constable 8012 Peniasi Racagi. It is alleged the two men, along with another person, aided and abetted in causing injuries to the officer between February 21 and 22, 2026, which resulted in his death. Their case will be called on May 8 for plea.
In both proceedings, heard separately in the High Court and Magistrates Court, sureties were warned of the consequences should the accused fail to comply with their bail conditions.
