While Suva is still in darkness, Fiji Police Force’s Sergeant Savenaca Vue has his day already mapped out.

He balances lesson plans with the quiet responsibility of fatherhood.

At 31, Sergeant Vue is part of the Fiji Police Force’s School of Leadership and Management where he helps oversee and coordinate trainings, workshops and development courses for officers.

Sergeant Vue is married with five children.

He is originally from Lomati Village in Cicia, Lau and has served in the force for almost 12 years.

His early years were spent in the Eastern Division, moving through roles at the Korovou Police Station.

He later had a brief stint with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and then became a post officer leading community and awareness programs in villages.

Those formative experiences shaped his understanding of policing beyond enforcement.

In 2022, Sergeant Vue transitioned into training, joining the Fiji Police Academy as a lecturer in the School of Community Policing and Operations before moving to the School of Leadership and Management.

Today, he coordinates courses, facilitates programs, and designs training schedules for officers ranked from Sergeant and above.

“For four weeks I have been coordinating a course, facilitating and arranging programs and training schedules,” he said.

The role requires adaptability, often working with partner facilitators and stakeholders across divisions and the region.

Yet, behind the structured schedules lies a more personal discipline.

“As someone who works in the training division, you need to plan things well, especially when juggling work life and family responsibilities,” he said.

“Communication is the key to having a good household and family is a priority for me.

Apart from his busy work schedule, Sergeant Vue hopes to expand his family by adopting two children.

He prioritises three things in life – his faith, his family and his work.

He believes that work is not merely a job, but a purposeful calling that serves family and honours his faith, resulting in a work-life balance.

For Sergeant Vue, leadership is not just taught it is lived, both in uniform and at home.

He thanks the organisation for their tremendous support over the years – allowing him to be part of a team that help guide leaders in the force.
