“STILL room for improvement,” said Aflame Colo-i-Suva women’s head coach Meresiana Niumataiwalu, following the team’s exit from the 50th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva yesterday.

Despite facing three losses in their pool matches, Niumataiwalu emphasised that the young team is in the process of growth.

“It was a great experience for the girls, getting a chance to play against experience teams and players is a great boost for the team,” said Niumatawalu.

“We won’t look back from here, we will move forward, regroup and come back stronger in other tournaments ahead

“We have a young team, most of our players are new to the sport, but getting a chance to exposure themselves in a young age is something great.

“We got a lot of work to do, we will go back and look at, and come back stronger.

Noting that the team is young and contains many new players to the sport, Niumataiwalu underscores the importance of early exposure to enhance their skills.

“We are greatful for the exposure here at the Marist 7s, and also hoping next year we can come and compete again but as an improved and better team.”

Niumataiwalu extends thanks to the supporters, families, and sponsors, particularly acknowledging the role of Aflame in their journey.
