TWO doctors from the St Giles Hospital, who conducted separate psychiatric evaluations of a man charged with sacrilege for an incident at the Samabula Shiv Temple, are expected to testify next week.
The court was told yesterday that according to the two psychiatric reports, Samuela Tawase was likely suffering from a mental illness.
But the State, however, alleges that Mr Tawase knew what he was doing at the time of the offending.
He is alleged to have jumped over the temple fence on July 13, 2025, and damaged religious idols.
His trial is fixed for March 31 to April 2 in the Suva Magistrate’s Court.
Mr Tawase was further remanded in custody, with the case adjourned to March 27 for a final pretrial conference.
