THE Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants (FICA) launched its 2026 FICA Congress at the Holiday Inn in Suva yesterday.

FICA president Sharvek Naidu officiated at the launch where he also received a $60,000 cheque each from major sponsors Vodafone Fiji and Asco Motors, and a $33,750 cheque from gold sponsor Extra Supermarket.

He also received sponsorship cheques from bronze sponsors Marsh and Merchant Finance.

The congress is themed ‘Charting new horizons for a changing world’, which Mr Naidu said was a call to action.

“We are operating in a world defined by rapid technological disruption, shifting geopolitical dynamics, climate challenges, and evolving expectations of business and leadership,” Mr Naidu said in his address.

“For Fiji, and for our profession, the question is no longer whether change will come but how we will position ourselves to lead through it.

“This year’s congress is deliberately structured to address this reality.”

Mr Naidu said the congress would bring together a distinguished line-up of speakers, thought leaders, and policymakers both local and international “who will challenge our thinking and expand our perspectives”.

He said the success of the congress in recent years had been remarkable, and they were building on that momentum with greater ambition.

“As we launch Congress 2026 today, I encourage all of us to reflect on the role we play. As accountants, advisors, business leaders, and policymakers, we are not merely observers of change. We are enablers of it.”

The congress will be held at the Crowne Plaza in Nadi on May 8-9.
