THE Fiji Football Association has moved swiftly to defend the integrity of football in Fiji, confirming that a full review is now underway following the heated Extra Premier League clash between Rewa FC and Labasa FC.
In a firm statement, Fiji FA reiterates its commitment to ensuring all matches are conducted and assessed according to established rules and procedures.
The Fiji FA Referees Committee is now tasked with carrying out a comprehensive assessment of the match, including the performance of officials and the conduct of both teams.
The association stresses that the review will follow standard protocols aligned with the Laws of the Game, and any breaches identified will be dealt with through appropriate disciplinary action.
Fiji FA also takes a strong stance against the growing trend of abuse directed at match officials, particularly on social media.
The governing body condemns any threatening or offensive remarks, warning that such behaviour is unacceptable and undermines the spirit and integrity of football.
It further confirms that cases involving abusive language or threats of violence will not be tolerated and will be referred to the relevant authorities.
Fiji FA is now calling on all stakeholders to uphold integrity of football and allow due process to be completed without interference.
