The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua will head back to the drawing board after a 6-21 defeat to the Queensland Reds yesterday.
Drua co-captain Frank Lomani delivered the sentiments following the round six 2026 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific clash at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
“We’re going back to the board on Monday, we’re going to look at our mistakes and we got Blues and two tough games coming up; the Blues and Crusaders,” Lomani said in the post-match interview.
The Fijian Drua will head overseas for their next two matches against the Blues and the Crusaders in New Zealand.
While the matches away from home will mean an attempt to break their jinx during away games, Lomani remains hopeful about what the two fixtures will offer.
“We got a good opportunity, a big opportunity for us to go there and play a good game.” Meanwhile, in the post-match press conference, Lomani said they did not execute what they had aimed for when they were in the Reds’ half.
“We just didn’t execute when we were into their half and we had a few areas that we just did not execute,” he said.
He said their physicality was a key strength they executed well, and it remained evident despite the defeat.
This week, the Fijian Drua have a chance to break their away-game jinx when they take on the Blues, and their performance in this clash will be crucial.
Queensland Reds head coach Les Kiss commended his team for the win at the Drua’s fortress, saying it marked their first win over the locals on their home turf.
He said the team showed great respect for the Fijian Drua and matched their resistance, holding them scoreless for the full 80 minutes.
The Drua meet the Blues at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand on Saturday.
