SACRED Heart College’s Peter Burese set a new golden benchmark in the senior boys high jump at the Coca-Cola Games Suva Zone One competition at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva yesterday.
The western-side lad delivered a standout performance, clearing a height of 2 meters to upset his previous record of 1.90m.
The achievement signals his growing potential ahead of the Fiji Finals, where he is expected to face stronger competition and continue his pursuit of excellence on the national stage.
Meanwhile, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School is leading the girls division medal tally in dominant fashion, securing 13 gold medals, six silver and eight bronze for a total of 27 medals.
Ratu Sukuna Memorial School trails in second place with three gold and one silver medal, while Ballantine Memorial School sits in third with two gold and two silver medals.
In the boys division, MGM continues its strong performance, topping the standings with nine gold, four silver and two bronze medals, bringing their total to 15.
RSMS follows in second place with four gold, five silver and two bronze medals while Nasinu Secondary School rounds out the top three with two gold, three silver and five bronze medals.
The two-day competition concludes today.
