DO not use your personal relationships to get what you want.
This was the stern warning from Fiji Head Teachers Association president Johnson Rura to those present at the Lautoka, Nadi, Yasawa Head of Schools Symposium held yesterday at the Tanoa Waterfront Hotel.
He said there were cases of people who have been found of using their personal connections.
“Our association is a professional body so please follow the processes and procedures – your district officers are here; your divisional officers are here.
“What is causing the problem because some people go directly to Permanent Secretary or directly to the Minister of Education- don’t do that. Follow the process.
“If you know you need to be promoted- due diligence of following the process needs to be always adhered to.
“You should be thankful that you have been given a position of head of school that you are serving in at the moment.”
Mr Rura also assured the head of schools that the proper channel of communication had been shared with the district office.
“Whatever you want to share go through your district office.
“At the same time, you can share it with us through your president’s and vice-presidents.
“Because they follow their channel, we also follow our channel.
“You can use both channels as long as you get what you want and the issues are resolved.
“But please just follow the channel of communication that are in place.”
