VILIAME “Bill” Wainiu brings more than a decade of service and grit to the USP Islanders Outrigger Canoe Club. He first picked up a paddle at 19, inspired by watching the Open Men squad prepare for Wai Tui in 2011 and hoped to make it to that start line someday.
Bill has since become a core figure at USP Islanders, coaching, racing, and shaping the next generation of paddlers. A former Fiji Outrigger executive, he now manages the club while continuing to mentor youth across the sport.
On the water, he works in monitoring and evaluation for community-based projects and holds bachelor’s degree in Marine Science and Law.
With Wai Tui International fast approaching on 3–6 April at Wailoaloa Beach, Bill and the USP Islanders have cranked up training and are pushing hard to make their mark.
