Fijian Drua CEO Jeff Miller is urging supporters to secure their match tickets early after hundreds of fans missed out on witnessing the historic Super Rugby clash against the ACT Brumbies in Ba last Saturday.
The highly anticipated match at Govind Park was sold out, leaving many supporters outside the stadium gates hoping to catch a glimpse of the action.
While the stadium was packed to capacity, the atmosphere outside told another story as loyal fans gathered in the rain near the entrances trying to watch the game from afar.
Some supporters even climbed trees surrounding the venue to follow the match, cheering loudly as the action unfolded inside the stadium and adding to the unique rugby atmosphere in the football-crazy town of Ba.
Miller acknowledged the disappointment of those who missed out but said the overwhelming turnout reflected the strong support for the Drua.
“I’m very sorry for fans who missed out but you need to get your tickets early,” he said.
“There’s a lot of interest and a lot of people who want to support the Drua, so next time jump on our website, buy your tickets early and make sure you get the best seat.”
The sold-out fixture further highlighted the growing popularity of the Drua in the Super Rugby Pacific competition, especially with the team bringing top-level rugby to the Western Division.
Meanwhile, the Drua will shift their focus to their next encounter against the Queensland Reds this Saturday at Churchill Park.
