FNPF-owned InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa will this week introduce a holiday package that will focus on addressing one of the most common and least talked about holiday disruptors – snoring.

The Sweet Dreams Package is a limited-edition and complimentary sleep-focused experience designed to help guests rest more deeply and make the most of their holiday.

According to InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, a new research commissioned for the World Sleep Day campaign had highlighted how widespread the issue was; and with 85 per cent of Australians saying they or their partner snored while on holiday, and 58 per cent reporting it had negatively impacted their trip.

“For many, the disruption goes beyond a poor night’s sleep as 31 per cent say their partner’s snoring regularly wakes them while travelling, contributing to fatigue, irritability and reduced holiday enjoyment,” the resort stated.

“In fact, poor sleep has now emerged as the second biggest stressor when travelling, underscoring how essential quality rest is to a positive holiday experience.

“Yet, despite this, snoring remains a difficulty to talk about with 35 per cent of Australians avoiding the topic altogether, and others resorting to earplugs or separate beds, far from the dream escape many couples imagine.”

InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa general manager Lachlan Walker said with 97 per cent of Australians saying sleep quality mattered while on holiday, they had set out to create a solution that acknowledged the reality of shared sleep without judgement or awkwardness.

“Great holidays start with great sleep,” Mr Walker said.

“We know shared sleep can be one of the biggest and quietest challenges for couples and families travelling together. The Sweet Dreams Package allows us to remove the awkwardness around snoring and offer something genuinely thoughtful, so guests can rest better, reconnect and make the most of their time in Fiji.”

The limited-edition package that includes a sleep kit is created in partnership with The Goodnight Co and zzzZone.

The Goodnight Co. founder, Shea Morrison, said sleep was often the first thing people sacrificed when on holiday.

“Changes in routine, unfamiliar environments and sharing a room can all disrupt sleep, especially when snoring is involved,” Ms Morrison said, adding the Sweet Dreams package was about supporting better rest so guests can wake up feeling refreshed.

The package will be launched on World Sleep Day on March 13, and the sleep kit will feature eye masks, nasal strips, mouth tape, magnesium oil, and deep sleep blend.
